Canagria (C,P); Cana de mico (P) . The plant is used in the Choco to clean china and to wash white clothes (!). In Darien, it is used to clean fingernails (!). The yellowish, transparant sap is used for fevers, e.g., typhoid and venereal diseases. Sap from the center of young stems is laxative and good for quenching the thirst(!). It is mixed with rubber to treat waterproff bags by the Darien Choco (!). Primitive goldsmiths in the Choco use the plant for furbishing gold ornaments in the last stages of the crucible.
