- Phytelephas Seemannii
- Cook Ivory palm (E); Allagua (C); Anta (Ch); Cabeza de Negra (C,P); Palma de marfil (C,P); Sagu (Cu); Tagua (C,P). The young nuts have a potable jelly-like liquid (!). This gradually hardens into vegetable ivory used for making buttons and other ornaments. A thin crust around the ivory is occasionally brought into the market in San Blas as a food (!). The leaves are occasionally used for thatch in Colombia (!).
