The sap yields rubber, or is used to coagulate rubber, and is used to treat venereal diseases. the flowers are considered pectoral. Jamaicans belileve that just applying the latex to the nevel serves as a purgative. Principles thought useful in the control of pathogenic fungi and tuberculosis has been extracted from species of Plumeria.
