Achyranthes Aspera
L.
Prickly chaff-flower (E); Rabo de gato (S) . Leaves are eaten as a vegetable . The seeds, though emetic, have served as famine food, also used to treat hydrophobia and snakebite. The branches serve as a toothbrush and the ashes are used for salt. Macerated roots are used on scorpion stings.
